Hiking Cascades with my dad

An old military adage that my dad has recited to me hundreds of times is to mind my 7 p’s. The 7 p’s adage stands for Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performanceand it is something that always enters my mind before embarking on a new task. The 7p’s adage is just one example of how the people around have helped to mold me into the person I am today.

My high school physics teacher gave me one of the most precious gifts I have a received, the gift of a burning curiosity. My physics teacher taught an elective course on engineering. While taking this course I was able to build simple circuits on bread boards, create remote controlled robots and I even helped build a gauss cannon. Through these hands on experiences I became fascinated in how things work and how I could make them work even better. This burning desire to understand and improve the world around me is what has drawn me into engineering.

Life is a sequence of moments and I have had the great fortune of experiencing some really great moments in my life. I have been felt the sensation of free fall while ski diving, seen the beauty of nature as I hiked yellow stone national park, felt the happiness of walking across a stage and receiving my college diploma and tasted delicious new foods while traveling. The people I was able to share these experiences with is what makes them so special. My heart still flutters when I think of the warm embrace with my girlfriend after we safely landed our parachutes. I can’t help but crack a smile when I think back about the long nights studying with friends for a big exam. There is no greater joy then the collective experience and I look forward to sharing many more challenging, scary, exciting and wonderful moments with old and new friends.
